Finger Lakes Woodturners will hold our regular January club meeting on Thursday Jan 19th. Mike Brawley is our featured demonstrator to begin the new calendar year, and Mike will be talking about and showing us “Fair Curves And Fine Detail – Thoughts On Refining The Design Of Turned Objects” The meeting will begin at 6:00pm with a show and share of members work, followed by a short business meeting which will commence at 6:30pm.
The topics that Mike will be discussing include:
What is good design?
How to study turned objects?
How to develop a design.
How to get from a wooden blank to the finished piece you want.
Good design is as important as good tool control, and it can be learned in much the same way.
Look, Listen, Practice.
There will be a few drawing exercises, so everyone should bring a pencil and perhaps an eraser. Paper will be provided.
