Finger Lakes Woodturners will host our first National Turner of the 2017-2018 season, Tom Wirsing from Colorado, on Thursday November 16th. Tom Wirsing is a former President of AAW and he will be discussing and demonstrating his technique for making platters, as well as some information about tool steels used in modern turning tools and the associated sharpening techniques. This visit is a joint visit with Rochester Woodworkers Society and Finger Lakes Woodturners
The meeting will begin at 6:00pm with a show and share of members work, followed by a short business meeting which will commence at 6:30pm. At this meeting we will also be holding the election for President and Secretary positions which will begin a new term in January. The meeting is at Isaac Heating and Cooling as usual.
In addition to the FLWT meeting, Tom will be the featured speaker for the Rochester Woodworkers Society (RWS) the following evening Friday November 17th at St John Fisher, and details of this meeting are available on the RWS Web Site.
