Finger Lakes Woodturners September 2016 Meeting
Finger Lakes Woodturners will hold the first meeting of the 2016-2017 year on Thursday, Sept 15th. The meeting will begin at 6:00pm with a show and share of members work. A quick business meeting will commence at 6:45pm. Following the business meeting we will have our featured event.
At the September meeting, Dave Gilbert will be demonstrating how to make a vacuum hub for a lathe. The hub is what goes between the spindle and the turned object. A variety of sizes can be readily made with minimal cost. He will demo using PVC decking and PVC plumbing adapters from Lowes or Home Depot.
Once he makes a hub he will show some of the things that he can do with it in terms of turning bowls as well using them to help sand and finish spindles.
