Member Discounts
One of the important benefits of joining Finger Lakes Woodturners is the discounts that are available to our members. When you complete a membership application, we ask for your permission to share your contact information with a few carefully selected vendors.
Each of the vendors listed below has agreed that they will not sell, rent, or otherwise share the member contact information in any way outside of their own organization. We encourage all of our members to opt-in to use your contact information so that you can benefit from these great discounts.
If you are not sure of your status for these discounts, you can email the treasurer and ask to opt-in for vendor discounts.
We update the member lists with the vendors who offer discounts on individual member orders each calendar quarter, approximately Jan 15, April 15, July 15, and Oct 15. Please email groupbuy@fingerlakeswoodturners.com if you are a new member and you want to place an individual order with one of these vendors in between these quarterly dates, and we will get your name added for that vendor.
Joe Wiesnet is the owner, and any FLWT member will qualify for a 10% discount on all items except Robust Tools which maintains a fixed price for all dealers. This discount includes power tools. Register an account on the website, send Joe an email that you did so, and Joe will change your status to a local club member which qualifies you for the 10% discount. The discount code is FLWT1 but it will not work until you have registered and your status is changed.
Hartville Tool- Program Discontinued
Although their program is discontinued, they do offer Free Shipping on orders over $50.00 and they carry a wide variety of items beyond turning supplies at very fair prices. www.hartvilletool.com
Klingspor provided a 10% discount on their regular prices for FLWT members who have opted-in to having their contact information shared with Klingspor Woodworking. They are a good source for a wide variety of woodturning and woodworking items and supplies. Many FLWT members prefer their sandpaper for finishing turned items. Two or more members can get together to order and save with pro-rated shipping. We will offer a club group buy about once a year, where all members can benefit from the 10% discount and pro-rated shipping.
When we organize a club group purchase with Craft Supplies, members who participate earn a 10% discount and free shipping when the group buy order total is $1,000 or higher, which normally happens. We normally do a club group buy with Craft Supplies twice a year, in the Spring and Fall.

Members receive a 10% discount on non-sale full price items. Identify yourself as a member of FingerLakesWoodTurners at checkout. There is no process to get an online discount except to have the store enter the order directly while you at the location. Sale and “cordered” items are not included in the discount program.
Members who have opted in to having their contact information shared, will receive automatic 10% discount on any orders or the better price for items on sale. No double discounts, i.e. the 10% discount is not added to a current sale price.
Anchorseal is a green wood sealer product for coating endgrain of log sections and/or turning blanks to slow down drying and to help avoid checking and cracks in the end grain. Since the product is manufactured in Buffalo, NY, we are able to pick up a 55 gallon drum of Anchorseal and divide it into gallon jugs and offer for sale to club members at a significant discount over retail prices for the same product. We organize this group purchase on an as needed basis, which normally works out to about every other year. Email to the club group buy address if you are interested in obtaining Anchorseal, and we will bring it to a club meeting. The current cost for club members is $10. a gallon, compared to close to $40. at most retail outlets.
Parson Adhesives Parfix CA glue was recommended by Mark Sillay, who was a club national demonstrator in 2016. Here is a link to a youTube video of Mark using the Parfix product as a finish on one of his turned pieces.
We order the thin CA product on an as needed basis. The club orders one or more of the case quantities required by Parson, and divides it into more reasonable sizes for individual use. Abranet
Abranet is a 3M Sanding mesh that is non-loading and lasts longer than sandpaper. The club sells it at $1.50/ft in two-foot increments. Grits available are 80, 120, 180, 240, 320, 400 & 600. As a result of its structure the pads may be used on Velcro sanding disks. This item is available for purchase at monthly meetings and to be sure it is there sending an email to GroupBuy@fingerlakeswoodturners.com. Sand Paper
The club stocks at monthly meetings the Aluminum Oxide Klingspor Sandpaper 9”x11” sheets in the following grits: 80,120,180,220,320,400,600,800,1000,1200 &1500 along with Silicon Carbide Wet/Dry Sheets in grits: 600,800,1000,1200 & 1500.
We sell the sheets for 4@$5 and and to be sure it is there sending an email to GroupBuy@fingerlakeswoodturners.com prior to the meeting. If this is required outside of the normal meeting, please contact the Group Buy email link and we will work with you to pick it up.
