Monthly Meeting on August 18, 2022

Marika Briggs donated  wine stopper inspired by Greek amphorae and a muddler inspired by a Doric column. Both are made from “ancient“ wood (salvaged from our 150 yr old collapsing barn). I don’t know what kind of wood, but guesses have included ash and chestnut. Bug holes filled with copper powder. Finish is good old shellac, and for scale, the background tiles are 4" square. These were won by Bob Farnam.

Terry Lund donated a 9" tall cherry peppermill, which was won by Marika Briggs.

Bill McColgin donated a walnut natural edge bowl, finished with salad bowl finish, 7-1/2" dia and 4-1/2" high. The top edge of the bark is natural and has no applied finish. The piece was won by Ray Marr.

Bill McColgin donated a walnut natural edge bowl, however, in the interest of time, to allow the maximum time for Stuart Batty's demo, the raffle was not held at the monthly meeting and Bill's natural edge bowl will be raffled at the July Show and Share.

Jon English donated a Cedar bowl, finished with two coats of shellac spray on then a sacks rub and polish. It is about 9" top dia, and 5+" tall, that was won by Terry Lund.

Mike Sullivan donated this bowl which is made from a piece of silver made. He finished a blank turned in 2019. It is 8" X 3".  He wanted a traditional fruit bowl shape with a slight foot that picks it up off the table yet still has stability for weight.  It has wonderful grains and color.  This was won by Rich VanHanehem.
